In partnership with the Louisiana Hospital Association, A3 Healthcare is leading 34 hospitals in the journey toward highly reliable surgical care. The collaborative aims to enhance teamwork and communication within Louisiana’s hospital operating rooms using the “Safe Surgery Checklist” as the catalyst.
Based on South Carolina’s safe surgery initiative, Louisiana Surgical Quality Collaborative (LaSQC) – physicians, nurses, administrators and other clinicians – have committed to implementing best practices across the continuum of care for all surgery patients. Over the course of one year, participating healthcare champions will engage in A3-facilitated webinars and coaching calls that promote mastery and application of Lean Six Sigma and change management tools required to optimize communication and processes associated with pre-operative, operative and post-operative success. The collaborative will track changes in teamwork, staff perceptions, as well as metrics such as complication and mortality rates for surgical patients.
